The following list will be growing in the coming weeks as Maryland Master Gardeners complete a survey to identify existing community gardens in Maryland. Let us know if your are part of a community garden and would like to be listed.
Baltimore City
- To rent a plot in a City Farms garden located within city parks: Contact Coleen McCarty (coleen.mccarty@baltimorecity.gov, 410-396-0180), coordinator of the City Farms program, Dept. of Recreation and Parks. These are fenced-in gardens on Baltimore City park land with individual plots that lease for $20 per season.

Carroll County
- The City of Westminster has two community garden plots. For more information contact Tim Rogers 410-848-9002.
Howard County
- The Howard County Conservancy has a 63-plot community garden on Rt. 99 in Woodstock, MD. The plots are 20 ft. X 25 ft. Call the Howard County Conservancy at (410) 465-8877 or email Garden@hcConservancy.org for an application and more information.
- Columbia Gardeners - There are 3 community garden sites in Columbia, MD. To be added to the waiting list: Send your name, address, phone number, and e-mail address to:

Montgomery County
- Wootton’s Mill Park
Hurley Avenue, Rockvillle
Operated by the City of Rockville, there are 177 plots including one raised plot that is handicap accessible. The program runs from April 1, 2009 through November 13, 2009. For more information see: http://www.rockvillemd.gov/residents/garden/index.html
- Sligo Mill Overlook Community Garden
Orchard and 5th Avenue
25 Plots Available; (nine 400-square-feet & fourteen 200-square-feet)
On-site Water, Seating & Restrooms
Fees: $45 annually for 400-square-feet plots ; $25 annually for 200-square-feet plots.

- King Farm Community Garden - Ridgemont and Grand Champion Drive.
39 garden plots (20' x 15'), onsite water. Annual fee $50.00 for new gardeners and $35 for returning gardeners. All gardeners must participate in the maintenance of the common areas of the garden.
There is a waiting list for plots for 2009.

Prince George's County
- 9301 Cherry Hill Road in College Park (near the Home Depot) – 41 plots (about 25’ x 30’) available for $30 per season on a first-come first-served basis (plots assigned the first business day in February; plots ready to use in April, weather permitting). Call the MNCPPC Permit Office at 301-918-8111 for availability. Water not available for irrigation, no restrooms available, gravel parking lot, fertilizer and pesticide use okay per manufacturer’s directions. All plots plowed under on October 1st.
- MNCPPC garden plots at Bock Road in Oxon Hill no longer available.
- Master Peace Community Gardens at The Engaged University – 6200 Sheridan Street in Riverdale, MD. 22 garden plots available - $10 refundable deposit for plot per growing season. 4 hours of volunteer work per month, water available, parking available, restrooms available. Non-organic insecticides, weed repellents and herbicides are not allowed. Contact Vinnie Bevivino at The Engaged University (Bevivino@umd.edu) for availability and application.
- Greenbelt Community Garden Club – 46 plots off Hamilton Place and 16 in Gardenway area. Little turnover in plots and 80 to 90 % of the gardeners are Greenbelt residents, no water available for irrigation. Contact information at the Greenbelt Homes, Inc. office – 301-474-4161
